Our local YMCA changes name to the YMCA of Southern Interior BC
Our local YMCA is growing, and with it comes some exciting plans along with a new name — The YMCA of Okanagan is now officially the YMCA of Southern Interior BC.
This change was made to better reflect the communities the charity currently serves, and those it plans to serve, outside the Okanagan.
“The Y is always evolving, and we don’t want to be limited by our name in terms of the communities we serve,” states Allyson Graf, CEO of the newly named YMCA of Southern Interior BC. “We do, however, assure our community that we will remain the same Y, with the same mission to strengthen the foundations of communities.”
The YMCA is currently delivering programs and services throughout the Central and South Okanagan and there are no plans to change current program offerings.
The Y remains invested in helping our community members thrive and will continue to work collaboratively to tackle key issues facing communities throughout the Southern Interior of British Columbia.
“Our communities are facing significant challenges including isolation, declining mental health, and inactivity,” Graf shares. “Along with our partners, donors and other incredible charitable organizations, we are working to support our community and citizens. We look forward to exploring partnerships and collaborations with other like-minded organizations to provide the services our communities need.”
