Be clean: Before entering the pools please shower. We all play an important role in maintaining a healthy pool environment

Be within arms reach: Closely supervise young children near water. If you're not within arms reach of them, you've gone too far. Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult

Be hygienic: All persons with open sores, bandages, head colds, discharging ears/noses, or infected eyes are forbidden to enter the pool area

Be in a swim diaper: Children using diapers must wear swim diapers to keep our pool environment clean

Be smart: Please refrain from flips or back dives from the pool deck

Be attentive/report: All incidents must be reported to the lifeguard 

Be alert: In the case of 3 whistle blasts, please clear the pool

Be tidy: Please refrain from bringing food, outdoor shoes, or other items on the pool deck

Be safe: Floors are slippery when wet. For your safety, please refrain from running, fighting, or any form of conduct likely to cause an accident

Be aware: swimmers must be at least 12 years of age or over 4 feet and 4 inches to use the 3-meter diving board
 

Be scent-free: Please respect those with fragrance sensitivities by avoiding the use of heavily scented products

Be mindful: Only use one piece of equipment at a time and be mindful of others who may be waiting to use it and avoid crowding next to others 

Be clean: Wiping down equipment after use keeps the Y spaces clean and comfortable  

Be considerate: Set weights gently on the floor and avoid dropping them and put equipment away to ensure everyone can find what they need 

Be on time: Allow yourself and others to get settled without disruptions before class starts 

Be safe: Please ask a YMCA coach to show you how to use an unfamiliar piece of equipment 

Be prepared: Athletic Shoes are required; no sandals, slippers, or open-toe footwear and store your bags in a locker

Be camera-aware: Be mindful not to capture anyone else (without their consent) in any photo/video. No photo/video at all within changing rooms 

Be hydrated: Drink water out of non-breakable containers (no glass, please) 

Be responsible: All fitness centre users must be 10+ years. Ages 10-12 must be within the arms reach of an adult. Anyone between the ages of 10 and 16 must participate in a Fitness Centre orientation on or before their first visit. This 30-minute orientation can be booked through Member Services. Drop by or call the Fitness Desk at 250-491-9622 ext 426 to sign up

Be mindful of facility hours: We ask that all members and guests leave the building by closing time

Be aware: Use lockers. We are unable to accept responsibility for lost or stolen items. Wallet and purse lockers are available in the main hallway for items of special value. Lockers are for day use only and are emptied nightly

Be courteous: Be caring, responsible, honest, respectful, inclusive, and kind to others and the facility

Be alert: Please report any unusual occurrences, suspicious behavior, theft or vandalism to a staff member

Be camera-free: Please refrain from using the camera function on personal devices while in the locker room

Be clothed: Nudity is not permitted in the universal locker room

Be friendly: the YMCA is an inclusive and safe space. Please make one another feel welcome
